The Little Teacup ‘with extra sugar’ in Bank Street opened its doors on Tuesday 11th July and is filled with sweet treats from a bygone era. We chatted to the owners about opening their second business in Ashford town centre to learn more about the shop and what you can find there.
The business has since been renamed The Little Sweet Shop.
Tell us about your business?
We are a husband and wife team, independent business, namely Russell & Jacqui, supported by a fabulous team. We are the only old-fashioned pick and mix sweet shop in Ashford Town, selling sweets by weight, many of which you may remember from childhood.
What attracted you to opening your business in Ashford town centre?
We opened The Little Teacup on 31st Jan 2022, originally as a little sister to our tearoom in Park Mall. We more recently decided to rebrand, we removed all the food & cakes and have transformed to a sweetie shop, adding the slogan “with extra sugar”.
Tell us about one for your key products or services?
We sell old fashioned pick and mix sweets for example, chewing nuts, sweet tobacco, barley sugar, sugared mice, flavoured fudge and nougat to name a few, in addition to slushies, smoothies, frappes, tea’s and our barista coffees.

You can find The Little Sweet Shop at 6A Bank Street and The Little Teapot Tearoom in Park Mall, the heart of Ashford town centre.
